Genesis 42:1-26

He had dreams, big dreams of greatness as a child, that he would occupy a position of power and privilege with others bowing to him. For a very long time, this dream delayed. He recalled the love his father had for him, the coat of many colors specially made by the father for him and the hatred of his brothers towards him, for his dreams, which resulted in their selling him into slavery. Now his brothers had come to him in Egypt to buy grains. As they bowed on their faces at his feet, he was overcome with emotions when he realized that he was living his dream.

Our God-given dreams and aspirations will surely come to pass. The process may be long and arduous, but it is for an appointed time and will not delay beyond God’s set time. Our dream will soon become our reality and our captivity will be turned back so that the days, weeks, months, and even years of waiting will now be like a bad dream.

Our attitude when we are living our dream is very important. Many become conceited and proud and take it as a time to pay back their detractors and enemies. Others become power-drunk, rude, and oppressive of those under them. This was not the case with Joseph, as we see him break down in tears as he witnessed God bringing his dreams to pass. We also should remain humble and acknowledge God’s grace and help as we see ourselves living our dreams.
